Using the App Cleanly
Blindfold AI is designed to be completely invisible to screen sharing and proctoring software. Here is how to use it safely and effectively during your interview.
1Pre-Interview Testing
Highly Recommended: Always test your entire setup before a real interview!
- Open a sample coding problem (e.g., LeetCode) in your browser.
- Start a session from the Blindfold AI dashboard to launch the floating chat overlay.
- Ask the AI a question to verify that it successfully reads your screen context and that your configured API keys are working correctly.
- Familiarize yourself with the overlay controls and adjust its opacity/position so it feels comfortable.
2The Invisible Overlay
When you start a session, Blindfold AI generates a floating chat interface. This interface uses native OS APIs to prevent itself from being captured by screen-sharing software like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet.
Important Note on Zoom
If you are using Zoom, you mustenable "Advanced capture with window filtering" in your Zoom settings (Settings > Share Screen > Advanced). This guarantees that Blindfold AI remains hidden when sharing your entire screen.
3Screen Context & Audio Transcription
Blindfold AI is incredibly powerful because it reads your screen and securely intercepts your system's audio output in real-time. This dual-context approach ensures the AI knows exactly what the interviewer is asking and exactly what code is on your screen.
- Screen Context: Keep the relevant interview window (like CoderPad or LeetCode) visible on your screen. The AI will automatically reference it.
- Audio Transcription: The app natively captures the audio output from your system (the interviewer's voice). You do not need a virtual microphone or external speakers.
- Chat & Live Answers: You can either manually type questions into the chat interface, or let the AI automatically listen to the interviewer's voice and feed you live suggestions.
4Maintaining Eye Contact
For the cleanest experience, position the Blindfold AI overlay as close to your webcam as possible (usually top-center of your monitor). This ensures that while you are reading the AI's responses, it appears to the interviewer as though you are looking directly at them.
